Attendance Policy
Young People who do not attend regular meetings lose out on the opportunity to complete their badge work, attendance patterns have a detrimental effect on the rest of their lodge/six/patrol and they can create problems for the leaders in organising activities. They also deprive another child of a place in the Group. Currently we have a healthy waiting list for the Beaver section and our Cubs are reaching maximum capacity.
Anyone who misses three consecutive weeks without valid reason will risk their place in the group. If anyone misses six or more weeks in a term, again without a valid reason, they may be asked to leave the group at the end of the term.
Behaviour Policy – Beavers
The Beavers have chosen their own rules which they felt would enable them to get the most out of weekly meetings.
- You must never leave the hall without an adult, or an adult’s permission.
- Be kind to each other.
- Build a good Dam (a perfect horseshoe).
- Keep hands and feet to yourself.
- Be helpful to each other and to new Beavers.
- Be quiet when asked by an adult.
- Sit nicely.
- Speak nicely to each other.
- Don’t annoy other people.
- NO screaming.
- NO interrupting when someone else is talking.
- NO pushing.
- The stage is OUT OF BOUNDS!
- Have fun!
The Beavers operates a three-strike system of red and yellow cards.
- In the first instance they will be told they are given a yellow card and will be asked to stop by one of the leadership team.
- If the poor behaviour continues, a second yellow card is shown.
- If the child carries on with the poor behaviour, they will be shown a red card.
To be given a red card means that they will miss the next Beaver meeting – one week. Parents will be informed if the behaviour is repeatedly poor over a series of meetings. The support of the parents is vital to ensure that each and every child gets heard and can benefit from the activities on offer.
