Cub Scouts Section Report 2012-2013
Philip O’Halloran left the leadership in December 2012 and from January, we took over the running of the section as Assistant Cub Scout Leaders.
Current numbers at July 2013 is 18 Cubs. From September, we are losing two cubs moving up to Scouts and gaining four from Beavers who will be joining us from September.
Badges worked on this year:
Challenge Badges – Creative & Outdoor Challenge badges
Activity Badges – Artist, Astronomer, Athletics, Camper, Chef, Global Conservation, Local Knowledge, Naturalist, Navigator, Road Safety & Scientist,
What we have included in our programme this year:
Autumn Term – Tracking at West End Common, Knots, OS Map symbols, two church services, one for the Harvest Festival & a Christmas service.
Spring Term – Astronomer Activities, including two meetings outside stargazing and making a model of the Solar system, Pancakes, Chinese New Year making a lantern, made a mosaic coaster for Mothers Day, designed and created a camp flag to be used at the District Cub Camp in May. Term finished with the Annual Group Easter Egg hunt at Walton Firs.
Summer Term – Building a bridge with limited number of resources, St George’s Day parade, Athletics in Oatlands Park, District Cub Camp, Learnt how to wash their hands thoroughly, learning how to measure their heartbeat, how to put up a tent, SCRAM 2013, Scientist evening, Pond dipping at Esher common and an Urban Hike via the local chip shop.
